A moment that was once distant has now become a tangible reality.
The sanctions imposed on Syria have been lifted, and the path to recovery is open.
This transformation was not the result of a single event, but the fruit of collective efforts that extended for years, led by the Syrian American community from multiple positions in law, media, and civil society to deliver a clear message: Syria deserves a new opportunity.
Among these efforts, the role played by lawyer Ismail Baqir, an independent political advisor, stood out, along with other actors from the Syrian community in the United States, who contributed to conveying a precise political perspective in Washington, based on supporting the Syrian people and paving the way for the return of stability and institutions.
The lifting of sanctions and confirmation of the American position was announced through a video message addressed to the Syrian people.
Lifting sanctions is not the end of the path, but its beginning.
The next phase requires responsible work from within Syria to translate this transformation into real reforms, economic and institutional, that restore the world’s confidence in Syria.
